Elevated Eosinophils?

Elevated Eosinophils?

I'm 44 y/o W/M Dx with Chronic Active Hep. C in '91 by liver Bx; have had recurrent problems with rectal bleeding, recently had a colonoscopy, showed colitis and internal 'roids;pre-op labs: liver enzymes only slightly elevated, but WBC 4.5 and EOS 15.8; not on any meds and no Hx of allergy Sx. My doctor has recommended I see a hemotologist but no further info. What might this indicate, and what , if anything , does it have to do with the Hep C ?

Dear jeffey,
Elevated eosinophil counts can indicate drug or other allergies, infection (often parasitic) and be a primary problem i.e. no other cause detected.  I am unaware of a relationship between Hep C infection and eosinophil counts.
