Endoscopy found a dimunitive polyp, scared is this same as tumor?

I recently had an endoscopy and colonoscopy due to bleeding and they found a sessel polyp during the colonoscopy and a dimunitive(?) polyp during the endoscopy. I had a colonoscopy three years ago and they found a hyperplastic polyp which they informed me was benign that is why when the bleeding started again they decided to do another one. I am really scared because I can't find much info on esophageal polyps only esophageal tumors which really worries me. Is a polyp the same as a tumor? I have to wait two weeks to get the biopsy results and I am really freaking out. I am a 31 yr old male in fairly good shape however I do smoke, trying to quit now! My doctor said not to worry as most esophageal polyps are benign and I may just be prone to polyps. Under the picture of the polyp from the endoscopy it says transverse papilloma(?) what does that mean? Any help you could me I would greatly appreciate it. I have no other symptoms other than acid reflux which I have been on nexium for some time. Thank you all for your input!

Management would depend on the pathology results.  Polyps have a chance to become cancerous - depending on the size and pathology.  A papilloma is a type of polyp - the biopsy would provide greater clarity.

Management likely would include greater surveillence if the polyps are not cancerous.  This can include periodic endoscopies every 2-3 years.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
