Enzymes

Enzymes

Does anyone know if it's okay to take enzymes if you have
gastritis and reflux?  The brand I'm looking at is AbsorbAid.
I'm trying to wean off Nexium and looking for alternatives.

Thanks

Dear Nanci,

My husband likes "Acid Ease", which is an enzyme formula that includes some soothing & healing herbs, such as Slippery Elm & Marshmallow root, etc.

The "Acid Ease" by Prevail, is not an acid blocker. It has some digestive enzymes in it, but does not have any protease (a protein digesting enzyme that can be irritating to ulcer & GERD patients).

This "Acid Ease" is specifically made for ulcer & GERD patients to use.

I'm glad to hear that you are weaning off Nexium. I'll post some gastric reflux tips that can really help (as a substitute for the acid blockers) to heal the stomach & esophagus.

Good luck to you!

Sincerely, Concerned lady

Some GASTRIC REFLUX TIPS (without acid blockers):

GER=Gastro-Esophageal Reflux. (Gastro=stomach. Esophagus=food tube.)

LPR= Laryngeal-Pharyngeal Reflux. (Larynx=voice box, containing the 2 vocal cords. Pharynx=throat, above the larynx. The larynx is above the trachea/windpipe.)

Reflux=acidic or alkaline stomach material that backs up into the esophagus (food tube), causing any of these problems: VCD/Vocal Cord Dysfunction/Laryngospasm attacks, cough, voice problems, asthma, globus (feeling of lump in throat), constant need to clear throat, worsening of sinus condition, sore throat, pre-cancerous conditions of throat &/or esophagus, etc.

SOME GER/LPR CONTROL THINGS WE DO, that we learned from the excellent book: STOMACH AILMENTS AND DIGESTIVE DISTURBANCES, by Michael T. Murray, N.D. See page 9, References, in my website: http://cantbreathesuspectvcd.com   and, also see GER/LPR info on page 5, and on LINKS page.

PLEASE READ THIS GREAT BOOK. It may possibly be bought on-line, from Michael T. Murray

I'm alittle confused...you take AcidEase which does not contain Protease and you take Total Enzyme which does contain Protease.

Can you explain?  Thanks

Dear Nancy,

My husband is the one who prefers (and uses) the Acid Ease. I prefer the Total Enzymes (the protease doesn't seem to bother my stomach). His stomach doesn't like the protease that is in the Total Enzymes. Hope this clears up the confusion! :-)

I have seen adds for enzymes that work for all foods in one and wonder how they effect ones CNS ?
How is this detected as the medical problem the patient is having if a stool shows no digestive problem .
Yet symptoms still occur.
I have heard of Naturalist Docots and Health stores doing tongue evaluation for health and type of blood you are along with pulse if western medicine has not found a drug to help or a test .
Is NUD just a response when a patients digestive health is bad and there has been nothing to show cancer, ulcer upon tests.

Dear Karie,

You can try the "Acid Ease" enzyme preparation, by "Prevail", and see if it helps you. You can buy this at a health food store. The "Acid Ease" helps many people who have ulcers, &/or gastric reflux, etc.

Let us know how it helps.

Also, drink a little (organic) carrot juice, freshly juiced, because this is so healing to people with all kinds of digestive problems, including ulcers, gastric reflux, gastritis, etc.

Since the DGL seems like it started to help you, keep using it for about 2 weeks, and see if improvement continues for you. See if the bleeding gums stops, when you use the DGL made by "Enzymatic Therapy". Let us know.

Also, what is your "gut feeling" about what is wrong?

Sincerely, Concerned lady

Hi, I just got a reminder card from my Gastro Doc to come in for a check up. As you know, I have been using DGL and I am 100% better. I was wondering exactly what I should expect from this Doc. Should I ask him for an endoscopy to verify my healing or what? I hate to go in and pay $150. just to get to (gleefully) tell him that I am better without his Nexium. Any thoughts you have would be appreciated. To Nanci and Karie2 : I hope that you find relief SOON as well by trying some of the natural alternatives. Take Care.

That is wonderful news. So happy for you .
What started your stomach troubles ? Diet, lifestyle, stress ?
What brand of DGL did you try and how long before you had pain free meals and days ? Thanks so much

Dear Feelbetter,

I'm so glad that you are getting better, using safer methods!

I still think it would be a good idea to see your Gastro, to confirm that esophageal healing has taken place. This is important, because you want to be sure that you are not having any more esophageal damage done by SILENT GERD.

If your GASTRO doc sees that you are getting healed WITHOUT ACID BLOCKERS, this would help to EDUCATE your doc. Then, you would be sure that you aren't having silent GERD, AND, you can help other patients (if your doc gets interested in recommending the DGL, etc.).

My problems started almost 4 years ago now. Ironically it was when I started eating healthy and excersising that my problems started. I used to drink a lot of diet coke and for many years I WAS under a lot of stress. I was doing well as far as my life was going good when it all started but maybe the stress that I had experienced over the years contributed to it all. I really can't say what caused it exactly. The brand of DGL that I use is EnzymaticTHERAPY brand. Also my pain would always be worse the week before my period. I hope that you too find some healing soon. Take care.
