Esophagus Reconstruction

Posted By Anita on June 17, 1998 at 22:37:25:

My son had a narrow esophagus(7 cm). He also has acute
esophagitis with ulceration of the mucosa. The only thing is
he never had problems with an acid stomach.
While he was having the esophagus stretched the esophagus became
preforated. He had to have surgery because fluid was leaking
from the tear into his chest cavity. The surgeon cut his
esophagus & the top of his esophagus was attached to his neck.
The bottom of the esophagus was sealed off.
What I would like to know is what type of procedures are there
for esophagus reconstruction? Also what kind of doctor would
perform this surgery?
Thank You.
