Feeling Scared. PLEASE Give me advice

I have followed this forum for a while now, and greatly appreciate everyone who takes the time to reply. I really need some advice. I don't understand what is going on. In Sept. my symptoms started with having pain in my esophagus. It got worse and worse. I was prescribed PPI's but nothing worked. I had an EGD in Oct. and the surgeon said maybe a little yeast. Did nothing. No biopsies nothing. Then my regular dr. put me on 2 weeks of nystatin. And, sent me to a Gastro. Dr. He doubled my Nexium to twice a day, and still no help. I was not in the pain that I had been in, but still not 100%. So he decided he wanted to do his own EGD. He did that today. He also saw the white specks that the surgeon did. He also said that he thought it was yeast, so he said that he "brushed" it. I assume that is a test. Also said that he thought I might have some signs of a wheat allergy. What has me upset is that I looked this up on the internet, and found that the only people that have the yeast in the esophagus are AIDS patients and people on Chemo. Well I haven't had chemo, and I and 33 years old and have been married 12 years, and he is the only sexual partner that I have ever had. Also, since this is the first time that I have been sick, I have never had a blood transfusion or anything like that. What is happening. I also had a vaginal bacterial infection a couple of weeks ago. I have never had that either. So....I am worried and upset. Does anyone have any advice that you could lend. Sorry so long.  I would greatly, greatly, and sincerely appreciate any help. Thank you.

Everyone has yeast in them..your drs stated they saw a little ? yeast...not a lot....Do you have diabetes? Did they do a test to check if your vaginal symptoms were bacterial vs yeast...sometimes a yeast infrection can be misdiagosed as bacterial...Were you on antibiotics prior to them looking down your esophagus?...Have you had thrush? You seem to be at a very low risk for aids or at all.....Wheat allergy may be the culprit...I would think  the first dr who thought it was yeast would have done a test if he was concerned.  If your very nervous, I would call him and tell him your concerns....Good luck and have a healthy new year

Amy you have received the standard response from doctors ,to a candida infection . You can regard the candida you see  as the tip of the iceberg.
Read this mans experience with testing . ask for the tests detailed in the web site, follow the links for more info .
Post if you need more information , [I see you  made it to the candida forum ]

Thank you guys so much.  I have been hanging on, waiting for a response.  In the first EGD, they didn't do any test.  In toedays EGD, they did.  The pictures of the EGD he showed me, (of course it was hard to tell what everything was, but I did see some occassional specks of white here and there.  He said that he would probably get the results back abou the yeast on Thurs.  It would be longer on the wheat allergy.  He gave me a prescription for Diflucan that he said I would take for 3 weeks.  I will read the article paj.  Again, THANK YOU.  You don't know how much it helps just to hear someone thinking logically.  About the infection...it was time for my yearly physical, so he did a pap and said doesn't look like yeast to me, looks more like a bacterial infection.  I know I am whining, and I am sorry.  I just feel so anxious.  I just feel like I haven't had any answers since this started.  Oh, and yes paj, I found the Candida board.  THANKS!!!! Maybe one of these days I will be able to return the favor to someone on this board.

Also, in the US (and probably other places too), you can go to the free heath clinic and get an anonymous aids test. This is just to wipe it off your mind as I think your mathematical probabilities for aids are really low. You can get results in a few days. They can be blood tests or a little swab thing that goes in your mouth. Also, I  bet the yeast in the throat thing for aids patients is probably when they are far down the line and not "new" aids patients.
