Pathology Report::
Biopsy: INVASIVE POORLY DIFFERENTIATED CARCINOMA/ge junction/MULTIPLE FRAGMENTS/SOME CELLS FORM GLANDS FOCALLY AND OTHER PLAMORPHIC CELLS SHOW SIGNET LIKE FEATURES/ stain positive for CK7 and CK20 and negative  for S-100/presence of mucin consistent with poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma/no squamous epithelium is present..
I am legal guardian for my mother /she is 90 years old.I'm trying to understand the meaning of all this a little better as well as gravity of disease and life expectancy so I can make decisions about her care and maybe hospice options???

I am sorry for the diagnosis.  

Staging is impossible based on the information given.  A CT scan and/or PET scan would be needed to see how far the cancer has spread or if lymph nodes are involved.

This is typically ordered by an oncologist, who with that information, can give a better idea of prognosis.
