GILBERTS SYNDROME

GILBERTS SYNDROME

I HAVE A 17YR OLD SON WHO BLOOD TESTS SHOW THAT HE HAS GILBERTS SYNDROME. HE RUNS CROSSCOUNTRY AND TRACK FOR HIS SCHOOL. HE RUNS ABOUT 40 MILES PER WEEK. THIS STARTED LAST SPRING WITH BAD CRAMPS AND FATIGUE. WE DID NOT THINK TO MUCH ABOUT IT AT THIS TIME. HE NOW IS REALLY HAVING A BAD TIME WITH FATIGUE AND THINKS IT DUE TO THE LACK OF TRANING. WE HAVE NOT TOLD HIM YET.IS THERE ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO INCREASE HIS ENERGY LEVEL SO HE CAN STILL COMPETE. HE HAS BEEN THE STATE MILE CHAMP THE LAST TWO YEARS AND THIS IS REALLY GOING TO HURT HIM.

Gilbert's disease is a benign condition in which the body cannot clear the Bilirubin from the body. The prognosis for your son should be good. Please talk to your doctor about the cause of his cramps and fatigue.

my nephew is only one and my sister-in-law told me that the doctor said that it was Gilberts Syndrome. I was looking up some info. on it and It really didn't give me a clear idea of what to expect. How harmful is this? Is it possible it might be a wrong diagnosis?
