Gall bladder disease

Gall bladder disease

Diagnosed with Costochondritis (mostly on the right side)about 3 weeks ago from a cold in late September which made me cough(not productive)the first week or so. I have also felt like I need to clear my throat and need to swallow something in my throat since then. I was given anti-inflammatories for about 8 days which  seemed to help clear up the spot on the right below my breast that felt like an internal lump-congested area.  I am on Coumadin. A couple of days after I ran out of Vioxx, I was working at my computer for about 2 hours stopped to eat Chinese and then spent about another hour on the computer and had what I am going to call an attack. I had a great deal of pressure in my chest burning in my upper back and shoulders which persisted until about 1:00AM. The next day I felt tightness pressure in the chest and some nausea. I ate pizza for dinner and that night I woke up about 2 hours after falling asleep with burning, pressure, sweats, pulsing in the chest and then chills which lasted for a couple of hours. I went back to the doctor the next day and got an antibiotic(fever 99.4), more Vioxx, and steroids. I changed my diet after my gall bladder was mentioned.  The next couple of days I had the same problems (night sweats burning)in the night but for shorter periods of time. Some nausea during day.  Since diet change I haven't had any attacks in the night but now have pain on side and lower back on right and under right shoulder.  Taking Protonix-seems to help feeling of need to cough/swallow mostly at night. Chest x-ray,Cholecystography, Upper GI,Ultrasound all ok.

Keep seeing the Doctors and find out what the problem is.  Sounds like Gallbladder problem since related to eating.  I've been thru much of the same for the last six months.  Some of your problems may be related to acid reflux.  I found the following helps.  1.  Do not eat or drink at least two hours before bed.  2.  Watch what you eat, look for fat content on the label, lower the fat content of your food as much as possible. Your gallbladder responds to fat in your food.  3.  After dinner go for a walk.  4. Lose weight if you are overweight.  5.  Reduce your stress. 6.  Make sure you lay, sit, and stand upright and not bent. Think of a tube of toothpaste, if you push the middle the paste comes out the top.  Don't wear tight clothing.  7.  When you lay down try to lie on your right side as it keeps the stomache contents from putting pressure on your spincter(sp) muscle.  8. Raise the head of your bed six inches with books under the legs.  9.  Read the information given with your Meds so you know what the side effects are.  Talk with your doctor and Make sure you are not being over medicated, or not suffering side effects.  10.  Most of all don't assume the problems will go away. Get to a specialist or a second doctor.

Although your tests came out negative I also think that you have a lot of symptoms of acute cholecystitis. But on the other hand, they need to rule out any cardiac involvement and the next time you get an attack like that you call 911 and get yourself to the hospital immediately! Those symptoms that you had as part of your attack could be cardiac related also.
Why are you on Coumadin because if it is heart related you had better go back to your cardiologist for a check up.
Also, if you are on Coumadin you should not be taking Vioxx or any NSAID's or ASA as that can increase the likelyhood of hemmorhage. The symptoms that you are having do not sound like you are hemmorhaging but I thought I would mention that. They need to monitor your PT/PTT levels closely.

You didn't say how old you were, why are you on coumadin? Have you had a stroke or cardiac event? Coumadin and anti inflamatories are not good companions. Coumadin is a blood thinner and anti inflamatories do thin the blood some. Sounds like gallbladder but also could be a host of other things. I'd get back to the doctor on this.
