Gilbert's Syndrome ? and ruling out other disorders

  Dear Doctor:
I am a 38 yr old male (1.8 m/75 kg) who's family has had serious liver problems.
My father died at age 73 of liver failure, principally cirrohsis, although he also had problems with emphazema, stomach ulcer, kidney stones and his heart. He drank and smoked, and we were told he had chronic hepatitis.
My brother died in his early 40's due to liver failure, he went into a coma soon after he was diagnosed in Grand Rapids Michigan with hepatitis non A non B. He did not drink nor smoke.
Also, my paternal grandfather died of liver failure, and my father's brother in his 50's.
Because of my family's history, I have had the following tests made, and my doctor has diagnosed Gilbert's Syndrome assuring me that I have nothing serious.  I would like another opinion, and would like to know what other tests should I make to satisfy my worries.
  Protrombina time 10.3      Witness 11.1 sec   Activity % 112 %

  Alcaline Phosphatase (translation ?) 49 UI/L incr. factor 0.4
gama glutamil transfer    10 UI/L         increment factor    0.4

  bilirrubin indirect    1.4 mg/dl
  total protien           7.3 g/dl
  albumin                 4.5 g/dl
  globulin                 2.8 g/dl
  relation A/G          1.6
I stopped smoking a year ago, and only drink on occasion.  For the last 2 years, I have been on a diet (no sugar, low carbohydrates) due to hypoglycema, and have been taking before bed 1/2 pill of rivotril and 1/2 pill of tafil (anti anxiety) to help me sleep. I also exercise dailey 30 minutes (bicycle or tread mill).
I look forward to reading your comments, thanking you in advance for your help.
  Best regards,
  Luis

Dear Luis,
Review of your laboratory results does not suggest that you have liver disease at this time.  If you do not have any personal risk factors for liver disease (drug abuse, multiple sexual partners, tatoos, blood transfusions etc), then further investigation is not indicated at this time.  If you are anxious regarding the possibility of liver damage, you could request that your physician draw blood serology for Hepatitis B and C.
