HELP--Ulcer, Pyloric Stenosis, Weight Loss.

I'm a 21 yr old female with a long history of stomach problems.
Had an EGD 2 months ago because of severe nausea and some pain--and was diagnosed with pyloric stenosis. The doctor said it was caused by an ulcer that had scarred over. He couldn't even get his scope to go through the pylorus initially and had to use a "great deal of force" to get it to break up. He was confident that this "breaking up" would take care of my problem. I continued to take Nexium and got off Vioxx, but a month and a half later still had continuing issues. Not as much nausea, but more pain.

Since October, I have lost 11 pounds (NOT needed) as a result of bad apetite and low tolerance to any food with 'substance'. I still eat, as not eating makes things worse--I just eat a lot of bland foods.

The doc took me off Nexium, and put me on Levbid two weeks ago. Since then, the frequency of pain episodes has gone down, but the nausea is back up and I'm sure I've lost more weight. And, I have this nasty stomach, burning sort of thing going on now too. I feel like I'm back at square one.

I'm just curious if any other adults out there have had this problem (if not, I'd still love your input)? Can this problem still persist after the scope? There has been talk of doing another scope...is it worth it? Is there any another treatments I should look into? By the way, I don't drink, don't smoke, quit drinking caffeine, quit eating fried foods, etc. My stress level is low, and things are going extremely well for me other than these stomach problems. I don't know what else to try. Any information or insight any of you could give me--even if it's minimal--would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ask your doctor about a gastric emptying scan; you may also have problems with your stomach not emptying properly. That will cause nausea, loss of appetite, early satiety. Also see if a botox injection into the pylorus is something that might help. It paralyzes the stomach opening to remain more open, and helps it to empty.
Good luck.
