HELP! Can Clostridium Fallax in the intestines cause illness?

I'm new to this website and am hopeful that someone might be able to answer my question. I've been ill for over 2.5 years with low grade fever, loose/foul smelling(like barnyard) stools, bouts of severe diarrhea, intermittent neck pain and intermittent lower left abdominal pain. Late in 1999 I was prescribed Augmentin and Amoxicillin and became ill shortly after that with numerous symptoms but primarily loose stools, fever and neck pain. Doctors thought I might have sinus infection because of the fever so in early 2000 I was given more Augmentin and several other antibiotics, including: Doxycycline and Clindamycin to name a few. I became worse at the end of 2000 with much looser stools and increased fever. Stools also smelled very foul...like a barnyard. I told numerous doctors then in April '01 I asked to be tested for C.diff... toxin tests came back negative. I ended up having a stool culture done at a reputable university and found out I had C.diff bacteria but a non-toxigenic form.  2 months ago I sent a stool sample to a very knowledgeable C.diff scientist outside the U.S. and was  informed that Clostridium Fallax was found in high #'s. The scientist said there was absolutely no sign of C.diff and that the original University that told me that I had C.diff bacteria had likely mistaken Clostridium Fallax for C.diff. I've been taking probiotics which are helping. VSL#3 has helped me the most. I was prescribed Vancocin Jan'02 for 10 days and did improve but symptoms returned shortly after that. Anyone know if Clostridium Fallax can cause GI illness? TX for any info
