HIDA scan results

I have had right upper quadrant pain for six years after becoming ill in Mexico.  Three months ago I started getting nauseous after eating, and the pain was worse.  My nurse practitioner sent me to the hospital for a HIDA scan.  My ejection fraction was fine but my gallbladder didn't show up until the very end of the allotted time period.  My question is, could this "slow to show" phenomenon indicate a gallbladder or bile duct problem, even though I'm "normal" according to the official standards of the test?

If the gallbladder ejection fraction is fine, as well as the rest of the scan, then it is less likely that gallbladder disease is present.

That said, I would also consider an ultrasound or a CT scan to evaluate the biliary ducts and ensure they are not enlarged or constricted.  If so, an MRCP or ERCP would need to be performed.

These options can be discussed with your gastroenterologist.
