Help! I have Candidal Esophagitis, it is so painful!

Hello all,

Last week I had two dental appointments and all four wisdom teeth removed. Because I have mitral valve prolapse, I had to take three megadoses of antibiotics, followed by five days of antibiotics after the surgery. Two days ago I developed candidal esophagitis since all of my normal body flora has been killed off. I am 26 years old and am otherwise perfectly healthy (not immunocompromised). I began treatment with Diflucan 24 hours ago. How long can I expect to wait to start feeling better? This is absolutely the worst pain I've had in quite a while, and it is so difficult to make myself eat...nothing eases the pain (I've tried tylenol 3, and the mylanta/benadryl/lidocaine cocktail). I'm absolutely miserable! Has anyone else been through this? How long until I feel better? Any advice on how to eat? I'm so desperate...please help!

Hugs, Rachel

Hi Rachel , it,s important you treat your infection with the correct doses of prescription anti fungals ,sub optimal doses can & do prove  disastrous, how you act now is crucial. Before you begin any treatment post your questions & research your illness at this site  it
