Help

Reading this forum I saw a letter dated September 21 1998 from someone named Jan her son seems to have the same symptoms as my son and I wondered if she had found any answers. Thank you. For the past 2 years my 12 year old son has suffered from stomach pains in his belly button area. The pain is debilitating and may last 1 or 2 days a week or longer and we do not know what causes it he may go for weeks or months with no symtoms (symptoms). WE have been to specialists etc. and no one seems to have an answer any help would be appreciated. thank you. Ball

I read your post with interest.  I have a daughter (now 17), who about 6-7 yrs. ago had the same problem/complaint.  I felt so sorry for her always having these stomach pains.  I took her to a pediatrician at the time, who thought it could be that she had a sensitive stomach and "maybe" acidic and spicy foods were the culprit.  He really didn't want to put her through any tests at that time and neither did we.  A few yrs ago, we had her try taking ginger (capsule form, found in drugstores, Walmart, etc.) before or with meals and this has helped alot.  Ginger(root) is good for many stomach ailments and we really have had good benefits from it.  Also, if this is the same thing your son has, they may also grow out of it.....but in the meantime, try the ginger.  It certainly won't hurt him.   needabreak
