Hepatic hemangioma and CoQ10?

Dear doctor,

Could you please let me know if patients with hepatic hemangiomas can take CoQ10 supplement? My father has hypertension and I've read CoQ10 might be a good natural treatment for him but he also has several hemangiomas in the liver with the largest one of around 7cm long. His liver function is normal. To lower his blood pressure effectively my father might need a daily dose of 100mg to 200mg of CoQ 10. The possible side effects of CoQ10 is elevation of liver enzymes according to some information online. I'm not sure if it's true and if a daily dose of 200mg CoQ10 is safe for my father's Hepatic hemangiomas? Thanks in advance for your advice!

To my knowledge, there are no absolute medical contraindications for patients with hepatic hemangiomas and CoQ10.  That said, I would discuss this with your father's personal physician first, as there may be other co-morbidities that may preclude use of CoQ10.  

That said, there is no reliable evidence that CoQ10 consistently lowers blood pressure.
