Hepatitis

My husband had a blood profile taken by an insurance company and
to our astonishment, he was declined covereage due to something
that showed up in his blood work that "was not life threatening
at the moment but could be eventually". To get the results, he
had to have the test results sent to his family physcian. He
called her office and they told him that it was not clear but
it's possible that he has hepatitis c. The doctors office wasn't
able to elaborate on the subject. He did make an appointment for
a followup.  What exactly is hepatitis c? How is it contracted?
Is it contagious? If so, how? Are the blood tests that the insurance
companies perform accurate? Will all possible life insurance
companies usually deny coverage for an individual with this
virus? My husband is 37. I read through many of the posts,
you people are doing a wonderful job here. It's great that we
have some place to ask medical questions for concerns that we
know little about. Keep up the good work!
