High Liver Enzymes

I posted a question on the General Practice Form and I have been reading alot about high liver enzymes here, but mine seem to have been extremely high...Last month I went to the hospital with horrible upper stomach pain..I have already had my gallbladder out, but it was the same pain.  In the hospital they ran tests and found out my SGOT and SGPT were 215 and 470, they gave me something for the pain, which helped, and sent me home.I went to see my dr the next day, and he again tested me, and they were even alittle higher, he also tested me for hepitites which all came back negative, that took a week to get those results, he retested me and they had started to come back down, to 50 and 67. He told me to just watch it and come back and get retested in a month.  I am feeling better, but i have really always had stomach problems, at one time i thought maybe i had an ulcer because my stomach would hurt so bad. it is very gasy and gurgaling, very blotted at times and I get very tired even after a good nights sleep.  I am not one to panic so I haven't gone to see a specialist, i thought I would wait until the next test comes back. But I was wonderig what the chances of liver damage was.  My enzymes seem to have been very high...I guess I was wondering if anyone thinks i should be concerned, and if I shouldn't wait until the next set of blood tests to see a specialist.  I would appreciate any feed back, I hate over reacting...but with what i have been reading it is alittle scarey. thank you

The only thing I know about high liver enzymes, is that my Husbands Dr. just told him to cut out the alcohol.  A few years ago he was told the same thing and it worked.  Of course after a period of time, his social drinking returned with the same results in his blood work.  Again the Dr. told him to stop and he'll have another test in 2 months.  Might be something as simple as that.  Good luck!

Hi , I have primary billary cirrhosis, and like you I had elevated liver enzymes also stomach problems. had my Gall bladder removed. It took me many years before I found out what the problem was. I went to a specialist which knew right away what I had and sent me for the proper tests,I am now on medicine which seem's to work.Listen to your body.

I have had elevated liver enzymes off and on for 2-3 years.  More than one doctor has discovered these elevated enzymes.  I have an appointment with a liver specialist, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this back and forth problem?
