How Serious is an Elevated SGPT evel

Im a patient currently recovering from hepatitis A. My SGPT level then was around 3000+.. but after being confined in the hospital for a week and a weeks rest at home my SGPT level is now down to 600+. I understand that this number is still relatively high considering the normal levels are at around 40-50. Is this serious? I dont feel any illness whatsoever. I want to know If im permitted to go to work considering this level. Im advised not to get tired or anything but I just sit around in the office. I Just want to know if the SGPT level I have is serious enough to inhibit me from working.

Dear Einn,
The elevation of the SGPT indicates that liver cells have been damaged.  It is not at all unusual to see values of several hundred to thousands with acute hepatitis.  The return of this value to normal often means that the liver insult is over.  The absence of symptoms such as vomiting and easy bruisability are good signs.  Most people with hepatitis A infection will have decreased energy.  You should gradually increase your activities being careful not to over tire yourself.  If all you do is sit in the office, you can return to work and gradually increase the time spent at the office each day until you have resumed a regular activity.
