I am starting to freak out a little

I am starting to freak out a little

Hi,
I'm 40 yo female with no significant med history.

I took 4 doses of Levaquin from 11/21-//24, stopped on 11/24.
On 12/3 I had terible nausea that was not relieved by anything.
Thought it was a stomach flu.

This continued the entire week, but then progressed to terrible upper abdominal pain. I had diarrhea as well.( only about 2 times per day-yellow, and varied from watery-to-formed but very loose-and with a ton of gas)
I would feel gurgling in my stomach, feel like I wanted to eat, then eat, then get the gurlgling in my stomach like I was going to havew diarrhea.

MD thought it was gastritis, and put me on Prilosec. I got some relief, but the nausea/and lack of appetite continued.

On 12/12 I saw a GI specialist, exam was normal. Bloods came back normal ( excpet iron was 187, and TIBC was 419-which he was not concerned).( stools samples/cultures all came back negative) He changed me to Zantac.

He said if I was not feeling better by this weekend, he would do an endoscopy-which is scheduled fot tomorrow.

Problem is I am worried sick about stomach cancer...after someone put that in my head earlier.

Presently, my symptoms are only nausea, on and off, some days it's a couple of hours, some days, nothing. I don't have the terrible stomach pain anymore.
And the other troubling symptom is the lack of appetite.
It ,too comes and goes.

The diarrhea is pretty much done, too.I had a normal brown stool this AM.

I have worried myslef sick sonce talking to this person who told me that just because all my tests came back normal, I could still have stomach cancer, especially since I still have nausea and lack of appetite.

Can you tell me what you think?
Obviously I know you can't tell me that I do or don't have it, but can you at least tell me what you think?

I'm so scared.

Can't say for sure what you have without personal examination.

Possible causes can be inflammation of the upper digestive tract, an ulcer, a lesion, GERD, or gallbladder symptoms.

The upper endoscopy is the most comprehensive test of the upper digestive tract - and I recommend it.  If there is any cancer present, this test would find it.

I would also consider an ultrasound to take a look at the liver and gallbladder, as well as a 24-hr pH study to rule out GERD.

Another test to consider would be blood tests to look for the bacteria H Pylori - which is associated with ulcers and inflammation - as well as blood test of the pancreatic enzymes, like amylase and lipase.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

if you're having the endoscopy tomorrow then you'll know if you have cancer or not....it does not sound like you do, but having the test will ease your mind.  good luck

Good Luck with your test and let us know how you are doing?  In my humble opinion your age and gender are in your favor for this not to be cancer. Stomach cancer runs in our "male" family and in our 'male friends'.

well thankfully the endoscope came out normal, He saw a mild gastritis. He took a biopsy for H Pylori, and basically, that's it. He took me off Zantac because he thought the dizziness and nausea was from that too? And he put me on Carafate.( I'm scard to start yet another drug, I just can't deal with side effects of more nausea/dizziness)

The problem is I am still nauseous, and have NO appetite.
I am really getting worried about this, and a little depressed about it ,too.

It's been 2 weeks and I haven't been able to go a day without some sort of nausea, either part of the day or all day.
And it's been 2 weeks since I ate something other than rice, banana, crackers, toast, or chamomille tea.

Please can anyone tell me if this is what mild gastritis is? Does it get better? WHat am I doing wrong? WHat can I do to get my appetite back, to stop feeling so nauseous, and to start to feel normal again?

I am so desperate...
Thanks

Oh the other thing is my stools are once a day, very soft-to loose and a bright yellow? This has been since this all began on 11/29 which was 2 days after I started the Levaquin.

I want to make a comment on Levaquin.  Look up Leavquin side effects on Google or any search engine.  I have read that there are some people that cannot/absolutely cannot take this medication and have suffered some bad side effetcs.  Last year, I was in my GP's office and I overheard my doctor tell his nurse that he did not want to prescribe Levaquin to "someone" due to the side effects.  I have never used this medication but there is a lot about it on the web.  Check it out and see if this can be your cause of your symptoms.

Hi, you have the exact same symptoms I had! It is your gallbladder lady!!! Look, all you have to do is get a gallbladder flush going.

BUT FIRST...I would have a gallbladder ultrasound done to confirm if there are stones and how many and size...

THEN if notta...go to a HIDE scan test REQUEST ON DEMAND...

If confirmed a problem....

Then flush.

DO NOT jump into surgery..

My story:

I would not dive into surgery so quickly. I think you need to do some research first and then come to your own conclusion. I had really bad acid build up in tummy and it happened twice and I have had to see two surgeons. Both of them were looking at me with a quizative eye. Then very unsurely suggested surgery. They told me to do it immediately and do not even think about what was going to happen the day of the surgery. Well, I scheduled and they rolled me into the op room. I had a panic attack and screamed violently at both of them . One had a 12inch butcher knife in his hand and started to wave it around wickedly laughing at me!!! I was nude and totally in the bar ebuff when I quickly hustled out into the parking lot. I fell and scraped my knee. I had two guys on the side of the road running for me ( I think they planned to do something!!!) I was able to get into my car and had to deal with unbearable situation of having each person stare everytime I came to a stop light. There were 25 stop lights mind you...
Just think about this first...;0

Think about it...;0

Levaquin side effects
Although side effects from Levaquin are not common, they can occur. Some of the side effects that may occur include upset stomach, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, headache and restlessness. If you experience any of the following symptoms the call your doctor immediately.

Some other side effects include skin rash, itching, hives, difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the face or throat, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, pale or dark stools, blood in urine, pain, inflammation, or rupture of a tendon, rapid, irregular, or pounding heartbeats. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away.
