I feel like I am BLOATING AWAY!! Help me please

I am 45 years old and have problems with Bloating & the feeling of fullness.  It all started about a month ago when I ate a very hot Chili, and I felt it burn my throat. The doctor saids it does not have anything to do with it now as it has been awhile, but I developed this Bloating, Gas, Feeling full, sometimes pain on my left side right below my breast.  The doctor thinks it is a acid problem which burned the lower part of my gullet, and this needs to heal before the systoms go away. I am confused, as I live in the United Kingdom at the moment and am worried it might be serious, even tho, the Doctor tells me it will heal.
Has anyone ever heard of this, I have had no tests to confirm anything, they are going by my systoms to treat the problem.

I would love to hear from anyone with any insight to this.

this sounds like the symptoms of GERD. Are you on anyhting like previcid or something to surpress the acid?

Hi,I was suffering with GERD all my life and last year had surgery for it.Now I no longer get heartburn but when I eat I bloat really bad to the point where it is noticeable.No pain or anything though.
