IS THIS SERIOUS?

IS THIS SERIOUS?

hi. I have had hemroids for many years and never treated them. Occasionaly I had some bright red bllod. This past couple past months I have been constipated and have had in addition to bright red blood a much darker red clump of mucus. I have an appoinment in 2 weeks but am concerned this is serious or is it the hemroids?

Thanks,

ag

Can't say without examination.

Depending on your age, hemorrhoids may be the more likely diagnosis.  However, any bleeding needs to be evaluated for diverticulosis, inflammatory bowel disease,  cancer or polyps.  I would suggest a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy for further evaluation - even if hemorrhoids are the most likely possibility.

This option should be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

I'm 19 and had noticed blood in my stools, mucus, constant abdominal pain, diarrhea, and weight loss. My doctor scheduled me for a colonoscopy and it turned out that I might have Crohn's, so they took a biopsy.

Well, it came back negative for Crohn's as well, so my gastroenterologist has diagnosed me with IBS for the time being and I am going in for some more tests in a few months. He prescribed Librax for me, which has made a world of difference. Since I've been on Librax, I've only had diarrhea and mucus in my stool once.

I haven't seen many people on here say that they're doctors have prescribed Librax. I would recommend asking your doctor about it--it really helped me.
