LFT Test Results

Posted By Wayne on November 16, 1998 at 23:33:26:

Dear Doctor(s):
As a result of being rejected for a life insurance policy because
of elevated LFT results, I got test results from the insurance
company. I have a doctor's appointment (Primary Care) set up
later this week, but I would like to know what you guys think.
I have done a lot of research and have not found any suggested
causes for the results I see (e.g., taking into account all of
the numbers instead of looking at one or two only).
History: 44yo white male. Never smoked. Light drinker (<1 drink
per week). Can't remember the last time I even fealt bad, much
less been sick. overweight (5'9" - 200lbs). Never drugs. No prior
diseases. No family history of liver problems.
Test results:
Alkaline phosphatase         120*
Total bilirubin               2.0*
SGOT (AST)                    47*
SGPT (ALT)                   142*
Gamma glutamyltransferase    333*
Total protein                 8.0
Albumin                       5.1
Globulin                      2.9
CDT interpretation           normal
Cholesterol                  292*
HDL                           38
Triglycerides                273*
Cholesterol/HDL ration        7.68*
Results marked with an "*" are the ones that the insurance
company said are high.
Anti-HCP (Hepatitis C)       non-reactive
Thanks for your help.
