Lesions on Liver

Posted By Kelly on July 05, 1998 at 03:47:56:

I am confused as to where to go next with my condition.  A recent CT scan showed
that I have three lesions on my liver.  One is 3.7 cm and one 1.1cm. The radiologist
here in Hong Kong said they "appear" to be focal nodular hyperplasia and not adenoma or
hemangioma.  The third lesion of 1.5cm is ill defined and they are not sure
what it may be, suggesting early fatty infiltration or abscess.  I am
completely asymptomatic and blood tests are all normal.  Do liver specialists
in the U.S. recommend resection in cases where diagnosis is not clear?
My concern with the first two are that they are possibly adenomas, since it
seems to be difficult to diagnose clearly, and this could be dangerous.
With the third, abscess and fatty infiltration seem strange to me, as I am a normal
healthy 31 year old female with no other problems.  What would be the recommended next step
in the U.S.?  I also don't want to have CT scans continued over a long
period of time, as I would like to get pregnant in the next year, and
all this is pushing the timing back.  Any suggestions on how to move
diagnosis and treatment forward?  Thank you.
