Liver cell regeneration, NASH, Actigall

Is it true that the liver completely regenerates its cells every six months?  I am interested because I was recently diagnosed with NASH and have been started on Actigall.  I was told I would be on it indefinitely.  I'm not too thrilled about that.  If the liver regenerates every six months, why Actigall indefinitely.  Also, can you cite some references sources for efficacy of Actigall and NASH/fatty liver?
