Must have entire colon removed

I have 2 questions.  I must have my enitre colon removed. My GI Dr said that I will probably have my small intestine connected to my anus. 1) Does that mean I will have to where a colostomy bag on the outside of my body? And 2)  Or, will I have NO bag and still be able to use the toliet to evacuate?  Thanks!

To answer your questions:
1) Yes, it is likely that a colostomy bag is needed at least in the short term as the new bowel connection heals.

2) Whether the colonoscopy is permanent needs to be discussed with your surgeon.  It would depend on the extent of the surgery and/or disease that is being treated.

Another opinion can be sought at a major academic medical center if the treatment options are in question.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
