Need Opinion Please

Hello, I am new here.
About 3 weeks ago I was scheduled for a Flex, I did the first part of the prep, was to use two more enemias the next morning.  But instead I was up all night long with severe abdominal pain.  I called the dr and he canceled my appointment and advised me to go to the local ER if my symptoms did not subside in a few more hours.  By 2pm that day I was still having horrible pain and passing an enormous amount of mucous.  The ER dr gave me a steriod shot and sent me home to relax, he said my colon was inflammed.  My regular gastro dr rescheduled my appointment but instead chose a colonoscopy.  He gave my colon two weeks to settle down.  I just had it done on Monday.  They found a polyp, small red pin holes and mucosal irregularity...red patches and some yellowish/whitish patches.  They took biopsy samples also, and no diagnoisis was made after my exam.  I did feel horrid pain during the exam and hubby was notified that they had to knock me out 4 more times during it.  I now feel like I have been through a car wreck, stiff neck from straining.  My colon in the photos still looked inflammed.  Do you know if this sounds like mild colitis?  I have a week to go before I get my results, and any insight would be appreciated.

I had a colonoscopy and honestly, didn't feel a thing.  My husband on the other hand had the flex and felt discomfort.  The colonosopy is a much better and accurate procedure.  The doctor is examining the entire colon.

Did the doctor mention anything about colitis after the exam?  If it's obvious, they usually tell you or whoever is with you, what they saw.

I hope you feel better - did he prescribe anything at all?

I remember my dr trying to talk to me after the procedure, but I must have been still quite sedated, so he went out to talk to my hubby.  The dr told him that it is routine to not diagnose until another dr and the biospy came back which can confirm colitis or any other condition.  I know they put me on bedrest for this week, I guess from the polyp removal.  I should also say that I have had lots of medical problems over the past 11 years, such as Graves Disease...I was recently diagnosed with Sjogrens Syndrome...Raynauds...myalgia and now this.  I know almost everyone I have talked to that has had a colonoscopy has never felt any pain, but I remember during my first awakening that I was screaming for them to stop it and quit because it felt like they were ripping something inside me in half...not just pressure but a tearing pain.  I know that the colon doesn't have the same pain receptors as say your fingers, so pain is not commonly associated with the colon, so I am so curious as to why I felt that type of pain.  The other three times I do not remember at all, I guess they resedated me before I consciously knew what was happening.  I just find it a little strange.  My neck muscles are so sore, and I can only figure that I must have been gritting my teeth pretty hard to make those front muscles so sore.  Honestly the dr thought I would go in and have this test and everything would be fine and that I could be diagnosed with IBS, however this was not the case and now I have to sit and wait.  They did discuss some types of medication, but again I was falling in and out of it and don't really remember a thing.  I should know everything by next wednesday.  I will keep you posted.  Thanks so much for your reply, I appreciate it tons!

Can you call the doctor's office and speak to the nurse if he
isn't available.  Explain what's going on. There's no reason for you to be this uncomfortable.  Most doctors have a PA or assigned nurse who can help if he's too busy to take the call.

You may have had some kind of reaction to the sedation or they didn't use a strong enough kind.  I never heard of that happening but call the doctor, don't wait for the tests.  Write down your questions before you call so you'll remember everything to ask.
