Hello everyone.

About two months ago my wife and I were just about ready to fly out on our trip to South Africa. About four days prior to this, she contracted a cold and took "Nurofen (Ibuprofen) Cold and Flu" for two days. She is a regular user of Ibuprofen as she periodically suffers from migraine. A couple of days after her initial dosem we took our anti-malarial tablets (Maloprime and Chloroquine) one tablet of each.
The day after this she suddenly became sick with nause and vommitting. We put it down to the anti-malarial tablets, but the truth is she remained this way for six more days. She did't take any NSAIDs or other medication during this time apart from the Maxolon and Gaviscon she was prescriped by our Doctor.

After six days she became much better, we went off on our delayed trip and everything seemed fine.
When we came back after three weeks she suddenly succumbed to the same symptons again, and it has been an on-and-off thing ever since.

We visited another Doctor and she said that it was a direct result of the NSAIDs and anti-malarial tablets she took. Her stomach lining has been weakened and the slightest thing will bring about her nausea (although she isn't vomiting). She ruled out any liver disease because my wife did not present the sypmtons for this.

She prescribed Losec so that her stomach lining can heal better.

Although she has been taking the LOSEC for five days now, she still feels slightly nauseated, weak and depressed.

Could anyone shed some light on this?

I took Losec for about a month last year, and it made me nauseous. It might be the medication making her nauseous, but maybe not. Check with the doc to rule it out.

As for anything else, I wouldn't know. Sorry.

Thanks Marygold,

The problem is that she was already feeling nauseated before taking LOSEC, so we don't know either.

Is there any advice you can give us on what food to eat or anything else?

Thanks a bunch.

I'm not sure about what foods to tell you to eat or not. I'm on a diet for GERD, and the lists of GERD diets are easily found on the internet. Try http://www.remedyfind.com/rem.asp?ID=3175 and they have a list of GERD problem foods.

Good luck!
