Now what? Help!

Hi!
I just finished a 3 week run of 20mg of propulsid 2x per day and 20mg
of Losec once a day. I'm still on the Losec, even though the propulsid
is used up. I was told to finish the Losec. I finished the propulsid 2 days
ago and I felt GREAT! Slept through the night, no stomach gurgling, very
little belching (sorry to be graphic), it was great! Well, then last night I
woke up with the same old thing. Massive pain in my chest (like an ache all through
the sternum and chest area and diaphragm/stomach) and nausea. It's so frightening
because if I didn't know better I would've run to the ER thinking it was my
heart! LOL.

My question is.....once the propulsid has been tried..and it worked while I was
on it (I've read it often only works while on it and isn't a 'cure'), what are the
next steps a doctor should be taking to see what else could be wrong? I've had no
tests done. Just the verbal diagnosis and the prescription run. Is propulsid ever
given to anyone for a long term basis? I do know the lifestyle changes that have to
be made and have made them...though, okay, I had a spicey dinner last night and that
may have caused the flare up. My mistake.
