Operation

I am to meet with a surgeon soon regarding Barretts Esoph. and a Hiatal Hernia. I need some input from anyone who has had any operations on these things. Does it work? What technique is used? There was talk of getting a nerve cut which should stop the acid problem. Has anyone had this operation? Is it successful? I don't want to be gutted if neccesary, but I can not live in pain any longer. Basicaly, too much acid causes Gastritis, which in turn irritates the Hiatal Hernia and Can form into Barretts, and Barretts can turn Miligment. Is cutting the acid nerve a good cureall?
