Pain after appendectomy

I had an emergency appendectomy a year ago (July 14, 2000).  I have been having pains in the area of the surgery that range from dull aches to sharp burning stinging pains.  They have gotten to the point where I can hardly stand up straight anymore and my back aches constantly.  I had a C-section 3 months prior (March 15, 2000) to the appendicitis and that area is fine..only a dull ache on the right side.  I have been putting this pain off and saying that I am just still recovering, but it has been a year and it isn't getting better...it is getting worse.  What do you think it could be?
