Pain in stomache area when pressing

Pain in stomache area when pressing

  Dear Doctors,
I am a 38 yr. old female and I noticed when I was pregnant 3 years ago with my 2nd child that at 8 months pregnancy I felt this little lump on my belly.  I mentioned it to my obstratrician and he did an ultrasound and could not find anything.  I started noticing the pain a year ago but only when I press on the area which is located in the right upper quadrant.  Occasionaly I can also feel a little twinge.  I am planning to see my gynecologist in 3 weeks but would like your opinion as to what this could be?
  Thank you.

Dear Liesel,
If you can feel a smalllump, you may have developed a small hernia.  Another explanation is that the lump is in the skin or subcutaneous tissue e.g. thickened fat, foreign body.  An examination by your physician is the mist appropriate course of action.
