Pain in upper right abdominal quadrant

Pain in upper right abdominal quadrant

I am 21 year old male. I had a upper GI endoscopy done on friday. Everything went fine. I just had a sore throat. On saturday I noticed I had a little pain in my upper right abdominal quadrant. The pain persisted on sunday and monday. Today (tuesday) I saw my gastroenterologist and he said that it might be the liver and ordered abdomen and chest x-rays and liver blood work, which I had donde today. He also suggested that it might be an air pocket in my intestine from the endoscopy. After I saw him, the pain has persisted and in my opinion it has increased a little. I am not experiencing any other symptoms besides the pain. I have an anxiety problem and I am obsessing about the possibilities of what could be causing this pain. What could be causing the pain? It is not an intense pain, from 1 (little or no pain) to 10 (extreme pain) I categorize it a 2 or a 3. I am very worried about what could be causing the pain. Should I ask my gastroenterologist for a sonogram or a ct scan?? please answer as soon as possible.. i'll be checking obsessively. thanks..

Anxiety certainly can be considered - however I would rule out more serious disease first.

The liver and gallbladder can be evaluated, since diseases here can lead to right upper quadrant pain.  An ultrasound would be the most reasonable test to evaluate for this possibility.

The upper endoscopy would rule out most of the cases of dyspepsia - including GERD, an ulcer, or inflammation of the upper digestive tract.

If the ultrasound is negative, you can consider a CT scan for further evaluation.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

I am a 50 year morbidly obese female who has severe pain intermittenly on the right upper side.  It is right underneath by right breast.  It burns but feels like there is something inside.  It gets a little worse everyday.  It doesn't matter what I eat.  I do eat alot of ice cream.  I have had swelling of my feet and legs for the first time in years.  I retain alot of fluid.  I am scared, afraid I have cancer or something, have not been to the doctor, anybody felt like I do before?
