Peanut Allergy

Peanut Allergy

Hi...

I love peanut butter, but have been unable to eat it for many years.  When I do, I get terribly bloated and uncomfortable.  I don't know if this is an allergic reaction, but wonder if there's anything I can take that would allow me to eat peanuts without having a reaction.

Thanks.

Duh, why didn't I think of that? ;-)  Did you honestly think your response would be helpful?

Sorry, I don't think there is any magic substance to protect you from the effects of a peanut allergy, which it surely sounds like you have. But here's what I did when I discovered what I think is a peanut allergy - I switched to almond butter, and I've never looked back. It costs just a little more but it's REALLY good, and also good for you. You might want to give it a try. It comes in chunky too, by the way.

Wow... People be WARNED!

I usually hang out in the "Addiction" section of the Medhelp.org website. This place (the whole MedHelp.org website) is GREAT for information sharing, but I've got to say that this "Patriot" fellow concerns me. Not only is the information he/she is giving out completely FALSE -- it is also DANGEROUS!

Look out for ANYONE who advocates a basically VEGAN-(Completely Vegetarian) diet/lifestyle as the "Cure-all" for every condition that ails you.

Well, I've gotta' go and check up on "My side" of this website, so goodnight all, and good luck in finding information and some RELIEF from that which ails you!

~~~~Blessings to you~~~
Actually I just remembered a drug that was available a few years ago called Gastrochrom (sp?), but I don't know whether it's still available. It was basically a food allergy drug, similar to Nasalchrom for nasal allergies.
Thanks Wilson and Chicken Soup.
I don't seem to have the reaction unless I eat a quantity of peanuts or peanut butter.  I can have a few peanuts without a problem.  I can even have a teaspoon of peanut butter every few weeks.  But, if I were to eat a peanut butter sandwich, I'd be pretty uncomfortable.  I'll check out the almond butter and Gastrochrom if I can find it and report back.  Thanks very much for the suggestions.
