Perforated sigmoid colon

Perforated sigmoid colon

My 13 1/2 yr old son, had a 1cm perforation of the sigmoid colon with perititis. History: constipation(large bowel movements(some mucus seen), torn ACL ligament, premature, double hernias(at birth), small build, veins easily seen on his chest, abdomen, thighs.
His surgeons could only conceive that someone must of stuck a sharp object up his rectum to perforate the bowel.  A social worker was called in, she concluded there was "NO" evidence of abuse.  I know that "NO ONE" hurt my son in that way.  The surgeons & pediatrian still cannot give me a diagnosis.  I know something caused the bowel to perforate just like that. What could be wrong with my son?  Please help me?
  Thank you,
Dear Mother,
If no distinct pathology was noted in the surgical specimen, another possible explanation for the perforation could be that perhaps your son inadvertently swallowed an object with sharp edges or a caustic substance which made its way to the sigmoid colon and caused a perforation. However, it would be very difficult to prove this theory. The diseases which you listed as ones that are present on your husband's side usually occur in older patients. Good luck to you.
