Pilonidal cyst removal

Pilonidal cyst removal

I will be having surgery to remove a pilonidal cyst next week.
How long will I need to be on pain medication?
Will I be on any type of restrictive diet?
Will I be able to walk up and down stairs and care for myself?
______________
Dear John.
The surgery treatment for pilonidal cyst is affected by the size of the cyst and the chronicity of inflammation.  Larger cysts and those with more inflammation require more extensive surgery and take longer to heal.  The duration of time that you receive analgesics will vary among patients.  You should be able to walk stairs and care for yourself although in the initial days after surgery you may require some assistance.  I am unable to find any justification for you to need a restrictive diet.
