Please help me

My mother is in the hospital for pain in the chest.  This if further complicated by what she calls acid reflux.  She also has numbness on the left side of her body.  She is also scheduled to undergo an upper and lower GI.  Anyone care to venture and tell me what could be wrong.  I know she is not telling me everything. Can anyone help me??
Dear R. Jackson,
Chest pain can be an atypical manifestation of gastroesophageal reflux disease, a symptom of an esophageal motility disorder (such as diffuse esophageal spasm) or due to a problem outside the gastrointestinal tract (such as coronary heart disease,  a musculoskeletal disorder or anxiety/panic
disorder). Chest pain secondary to gastroesophageal reflux is usually associated with heartburn, difficulty swallowing, hoarseness or dental problems, belching, burping, nausea, choking sensation or asthma. It may also be related to food intake or the ingestion of particular foods known to exacerbate gastroesophageal reflux. The upper GI series may show free gastroesophageal reflux or evidence of damage (inflammation) to the esophageal lining from chronic acid reflux. I hope you find this information helpful.
