I became ill back on August 18th of this year and went to emergency were they told me I had a virus. I then became more ill and saw my regular doctor three days later, he also said I had a virus. I then did not improve over 14 days and went back to the doctor and we tested for Hepititis (hepatitis) A, B, and C, Mono, and EBV. They all came back negative except the EBV came back positive and my Liver enzymes were slightly elevated. His diagnosis is that I have Epstein Barr Virus and I will get over it in time, the virus causing the elevated Liver enzymes. It has now been five weeks and I still feel very fatigued and ill. We did a follow up blood test and now my liver enzymes are higher than before. We are now doing an Ultrasound. My question is this, Would the Hepititis (hepatitis) come on suddenly like within 24 hours? and, Is it possible that we tested too early for the hepititis (hepatitis)? we tested within 10 days from when I started to feel sick. I remain weak and fatigued, have trouble sleeping at night, I get hot and sometimes lightly sweat but I am better than I was two weeks ago. I also tested negative for HIV as recently as this week.

Hello,
EBV will make you feel tired and drained for a very long time...I have known people to have this and feel fatigued for 2 years and longer.
Hep will show gradually, and the symptoms are so slight at times..most people to not know that they even have it, and can carry it for 10 years or longer before any symptoms begin to show.
Find out all you can about EBV...education is the best med!
Take care and get the rest you need and eat healthy and exercise moderately.
