Please tell me what you think

Hi -

I am 20 years old and just recently I have stared feeling bloated. I often feel like I need to have a bowel movement but nothing comes out. I have more bowel movements during the day now, like 3. I have had more gas than usual and only a few spouts of diarrhea. My stools look lighter in color and have what looks to be a rough texture. I have also had a low grade fever off and on and I get tired earlier at night than usual. And I have heard my stomach grumbling a lot more than usual. I have not had abdominal pains which usually symptomatic of Chron's Disease. My mother had colon Cancer at 50. I know i'm at risk, but not this young I thought. Do you think it is Chron's or Colitis...Or is it just IBS?

Please please tell me what you think. Thanks

Difficult to say without evaluation.

If inflammatory bowel disease, as well as bowel changes are continuing, you can indeed consider a colonoscopy.  This is the most comprehensive test of the lower bowel.

Bloating can be caused by a variety of conditions, including GERD or inflammation of the upper digestive tract.   An upper endoscopy is recommended for this.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
