Questran complications??

Can you give me some things good and bad about Questran?? I'm using it for diarreha. Are there any long term effects and any side effects that anyone has experienced. Any practical suggestions?? about using it???

I have been taking questran for several years.  It worked for me for many years but lately it hasent been working as well.  They've been making changes to it to make it better for the patients that use it to lower their cholesteral. Do not ever get the generic brands, they are awful.  The best is the original Questran in the the blue and white can.  The label tells you to mix it with 8oz. of water or other liquid.  I have found that it works best for me if I use about 4oz. of water.  

I've done a lot of research on it and there don't seem to be any major side effects, except constipation, that's why they tell you to mix it with at least 8oz of water.

I took it while I was pregnant, closely monitored by my Dr., with no adverse affects to me or my baby.  I think its a pretty safe therapy.

Hi, I had my G/B out Oct 2000 and although my back, shoulder and some of the chest pain is gone I still have chronic diarrhea (15-20 times per day) Did not have much of a life, couldn't work either, (who would hire me like that!).
Anyway I was like that for one year before the removal and 6 weeks after it all came back again. I lost my job from having 3 days off, I couldn't leave the house for nearly 2 weeks, until the Questran my gastro' put me started to work. It took about a month or so to really work.  Good stuff....My side effects were yellowing of my finger nails (no, I was not dipping them in the powder :)) it looked so awful I had to wear nail polish, and my teeth got a little yellow too, even after rinsing after swallowing Questran. Not bad side effects considering my other option.
