RE: Symptoms

RE: Symptoms

My sister had her gall bladder removed.  Before her surgery she had back pain for several months.  No I am experiencing some pain in my lower left back, but no abdominal pain.  I do have a bulging L-4 L-5 disc, but the pain is not in the area that I usually have discomfort from my disk.  I also have occasional nausea.  Could I have gall bladder disease?
  Thanks!

Dear Wendy,
It is very unlikely that your back pain is due to gall bladder disease.  Gall bladder pain can have several different characteristics but is always in the center or upper right abdomen, under the ribs.  Pain in the lower left back could result from kidney, disc, hip or muscle problems.
This response is offered for your general information and should not replace the conclusions drawn from a careful and complete evaluation by your physician.
