I had a vidio test yesterday they gave me apple sauce that went down ok then a pudding, ok there too, then fruit coctail, they said it didn't clear as it should. I swallowed several times but I had swallowed so much by then it seemed I ran out of saliva or something. They said it wa abnormal and stopped before giving me the rest of the foods such as cut uo apples ect. I have called my Dr for results and his nurse said he is going on vacation for two weeks. The speech pathologist said that the food cleared my throat, so I wonder about the choking thing. I have still got no answers to what could cause this, my endo came back ok as did my barium   swallowing study. Can the reflux cause the esophogeal slowness?, or should I say lack of motility? What is a motility study and how do they do it? I am nervous about  possibly choking, so I think now I am focusing on this way too much. Where  is your clinic located? Thank you for all your help, I really appreciate this, Laurie

There are several motility tests.  One of them is esophageal motility test (aka esophageal manometry) to look for abnormal motility problem in esophagus.  Gasric emptying test and electrogastrogram (EGG) are other GI motility tests to look for abnormal motility problem in stomach.  After gastric emptying test and EGG, my GI told me I have gastroparesis.
If you wanna more info about these tests, go to http://www.drkoop.com/adam/
Good luck.
