: I AM CURRENTLY SUFFERING WITH AN ANAL FISSURE AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT TWO DOCTORS SAY. THE SYMPTOMS ARE PAIN DURING AND FOR SEVERAL HOURS AFTER BOWEL MOVEMENT AND BRIGHT RED BLOOD ON TOILET PAPER AND ON SIDE OF STOOL. THE PAIN WHEN TRYING TO PASS THE STOOL AND THE SORENESS AFTER ARE SIGNIFICANT.
AFTER 4 WEEKS OF THIS AND USING STOOL SOFTNERS, FIBRE DIET, ETC, I SAW A SURGEON WHO HAD THE PHARMACY MAKE UP A 0.3% OINTMENT WITH NITROGLYCERINE WHICH YOU APPLY TO THE AFFECTED AREA. IT RELAXES THE MUSCLE SO YOU CAN PROMOTE HEALING AND AVOID THE SUBCONSCIOUS TENSING TO AVOID THE PAIN AT THE BOWEL MOVERMENT AND SEEMS TO WORK

Hi, I'm a 20 year old male that about six weeks ago started getting a burning/tearing pain when I would use the restroom. Their would also be pink/bright red blood on the toilet paper. This happened 2 nights in a row then cleared up for about 2 weeks, once again same thing happened. Cleared up for 2 weeks again and came back. At this point I went to the doctor and had him check me out. I told him my symptoms and he did a digital rectal exam, he diagnosed me as having an anal fissure and perscribed me some suppositories. Well these took away the pain and stopped the bleeding again for about 2 and a half weeks then just last night there was some pain and a barely noticeable trace of pink blood. So this morning I went back to the doctor and he still thinks its an anal fissure. He gave me another 3 weeks supply of supositories and told me to increse my fiber by taking metamucil or just by eating more fruits and veggies. If it doesnt heal any to call back after 3 weeks and schedule surgery to repair the fissure. My question is does this sound like an anal fissure or could it be something else? I'm worried that it might be something more serious, i read on the net that many different things can cause bleeding, such as hemmroids, fissures, chrones and colon cancer. I have no other symptoms and feel fine other than the occasional bleeding and pain. Does this sound like a proper diagnosis? Thanks in advance

Sounds as though there is a possibility that you may have a
case of rectal HPV.  Better get it checked.  It will progress
to rectal cancer if you don't take care.
