Re: Belly Button Discharge

Posted By Clint on July 01, 1999 at 09:17:00PI am a 29 year old male and have been experiencing occasional discharge from my belly button.  There is no pain, but it has been happening every 2-4 days for the past month.  The discharge is typically a very small amount a brown, redish substance and has a very pungent odor.  When I clean the area, the belly button looks fine.  No apparent cuts, swelling, etc.pAny thoughts on this strange condition?PPHR WIDTH=75% SIZE=4 COLOR=#000090

i have experienced the same type of symptoms with my belly button from time to time since i was in my late twenties i am now forty and female, i once was told it was related to yeast infections, or gasterial? sure would like to find out more about it. As I also was diagnoised three years ago with hepatitus (hepatitis) c with a possitive liver biopsy.

I've had the exact same thing.  Went to the doctor and they said it was fine, they suggested that I was cleaning it too much therefore irritating that delicate skin.  My doc said to put some neosporin on it - gently - and to keep it protected from tight waistbands for awhile.  It went away after about a week and has never come back.
