This weekend I had a BM and I noticed that there was blood in the water. I have had at least five since then with no traces of blood in the stool or in the water. This morning(Tuesday) I once again had blood in the water, a bit more this time. The blood was
dark red and enough to look like a cut was bleeding. There has been no pain or discomfort in my abdomen or while deficating.
Please let me know what you think.

: Dear Eric,
It is important to know if the blood was mixed with the stool.  Blood that is mixed with stool is indicative of a bleeding site above the rectum e.g. polyps in the sigmoid, descending colon.  In contrast, if blood is on the surface of the stool, only on the toilet tissue or in the bowl, we think of low rectal or anal processes e.g. hemarrhoids, fissure. You need to have a flexible sigmoidoscopy.  Addition testing such as bariumenema or colonscopy depends on whether blood is mixed with stool.

The blood is not mixed with the stool, only on the surface.
