I am taking 20mg of Losec daily for GERD and excess acid in my stomach.
As soon as I stop taking it my stomach burns and I feel nauseated.
My nose has been continually blocked.  I also have to clear my throat,
feel hoarse, and bring up a lot of flem (phlegm).
My husband had a very similar problem with omeprazole (Prilosec, Losec),
and somewhere in the technical literature (I can search through it- about
250 printed pages! for the exact reference) I read a discussion about
"rebound" effects.  For a small group of people, abruptly stopping
omeprazole caused what *might* be a short-term overproduction of stomach
acid.
The throat-clearing and hoarseness were my husband's primary symptoms of
GERD - heartburn was always present as well, but minor.  It does sound
like you have a sinus problem though, which bring up an excellent question
that the very helpful doctors here can answer - if antihistamines and
steroids (nasally administered steroids) are considered GERD antagonists,
how can someone who is very prone to sinus problems during allergy seasons
control both his sinuses and GERD?  What drugs are left?
