I have an 8 year old daugther who has had stomach pain for the past 3 weeks. We have taken her to the pediatrician, and gastrologest they have done numerous tests ie. stool and urine samples, stomach x-rays, cat scans. All of which have come up normal.
We have tried taking her off milk products, and food made with wheat, but nothing seems to help.
At first the pain was all the time but now it comes and goes through out the day. When the pain comes on there isnon warning and last for a few minutes up to 15-20 minutes ata time.
She is constipated so we are giving her laxitives very few day.
The next step we are told is to have a colon scope procedure.
My wife has gone to the internet to research her condition and it seem to us that she may have irritable bowel syndrome. For which it seem there is no medication or test for.
We are very confused and are concerned for our daughters welfare. It is painful to watch her suffer each day. it seem we are no further along in our quest for the answer than we were 3 weeks ago.
Do we get a second oppinion?
We once brought our daughter to Mount Sinai to see Dr. Keith Ben-Kov we are thinking about seeing him.
Thanks,
Jay Bren.
