dear needs help,
There are many causes for rectal bleeding and diarrhea.  Statistically, the most common is an infectious colitis.  Persistrence of symptoms raises the possibility of colitis (either ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease).  Depending on the age of the patient and the fami;y history, one must sometimes consider rectal cancer, although the symptoms that you describe are not typical for cancer.  If there is concern or repated symptoms, your sister should see her doctor.
