I am 37 years old. I am having abdominal pain for last 6 months. I go to bed around 11, and pain starts around 3 or 4 in the morning. It starts as a dull pressure pain in the upper portion of the abdomen and then settles down in the lower portion, slightly below belly button, on all sides - though slightly more on right. It goes away with an hour of my getting up. Sitting up also seems to help. Never had this pain during  daytime. H. pylori was -ve and no stones in the gallbaldder too. I have taken antacids etc, no help.

Dear Peter,
The classical description of ulcer pain is an epigastric discomfort that ocuurs at 2-3 AM and is relieved by eating.  Esophageal reflux can also cause a similar clinical picture.  If your symptoms persist you should contact your physician to discuss possible next steps.
