Is one dose of engerix-B for adult sufficient to have a positive anti-HBs in the blood test ?

Dear Rima
Engerix-B is a recombinant vaccine to prevent infection with the hepatitis B virus.  Three injections are currently recommended because three are needed to provide protection in over 95% of individuals receiving the vaccine and to provide protection that lasts at least five years.  It is possible to have a positive anti-HBs after one dose and at least half of recipients will do so.  However, three doses are recommended to provide protective levels of anti-HBs in over 95% of patients receiving the vaccine.
