Hello!
I have a motility disorder of the small intestines and take Propulsid (cisaprid) regularly for it.  It gives me the runs, and I was wondering if there is some substitute for it?  The drug works well, if I do not get diarrhea.   Or a dosage reduction?  Do you have any other tips on how to deal with a motility disorder?  (I have been told that little can be done.)
I also have a sphicter of oddi disfunction and was injected with a botulinus toxin.  How long does the effect last?  Is there any other way to treat it?  Is this function linked to a motility disorder or in general to the digestive process?  In other words, will my motility disorder improve because of the shot?
Thanks!

Hello Mel,
I also have a motility disorder.  I am on a waiting list for Domperidone, a drug that is not FDA approved yet.  You might want to ask your doctor about taking Reglan (5mg to start).  I take this, because like you I had the same experience with Propulsid. It's a motility drug that also helps with nausea.  Good luck!  Kerry

Thanks for the advice!  I live abroad, and don'T know if Reglan is available over here (it could have a different name).  What is its main ingredient, and is it an over-the-counter medication?  I don't want to take Propulsid anymore!

Metoklopramid is chemical ingredient of Reglan (Klometol,Degan)
Cisapiride is chemical ingredient of Propulsid (Cisap, Digenon)
Domperidon is chem. ing. of Tametil
All them are in group of Procinetic Agents
Thank on reading and excuse me on poor English !
